C-70S Bar
Rackable Short Bar as Seen at the CrossFit Games

The 15KG Rogue C-70S Barbell is essentially a “shorty” version of our 20KG Ohio Bar and a rackable version of our original C-70 short bar. Available here with a Cerakote shaft finish and chrome sleeves, this compact 72” design can benefit anyone training in tight quarters, be it a small garage gym or busy training facility, with nearly 15” of space-saving efficiency versus a full-length bar.

Like the Ohio Bar, the American-made C-70S features a 190,000 PSI steel shaft, dual knurl marks, quality composite bushings, and a standard 52” of spacing between the sleeves. The “S” in the bar’s name stands for “Snatch,” as the standard sleeve spacing enables athletes to perform these and other movements that would typically require a full-length barbell for proper hand placement. Case in point, we initially developed this style of bar for snatch events at the CrossFit Games, where compact competition lanes required a shorter bar

As an added benefit of its design, the C-70S can be racked conveniently on most standard power racks / squat stands. It should be noted, though, that the 8.875” of loadable sleeve length is roughly half that of the Ohio Bar (16.4”) and slightly less than the original non-rackable C-70 Bar (12”). There is no center knurl, and the Rogue logo is included in the center of the shaft as part of the Cerakote finish.

More on Cerakote
All of our Rogue C-70S Bars feature a Black Cerakote shaft finish. Widely used by firearm manufacturers for its durability in thin applications, this ceramic-based coating can offer superior abrasion, wear, and corrosion resistance over time—up to 100x that of traditional black zinc.

Game-Changing Rackability
1

Game-Changing Rackability

As perhaps the biggest feature of its design, the C-70S can be racked conveniently on most standard power racks / squat stands, dramatically improving its functional benefits over most standard short bars. Additionally, while the sleeves are shorter on this model, the 52” of spacing between them is the same as a full-length barbell, allowing athletes to perform movements that haven’t traditionally been practical with short bars, such as the snatch and overhead squats. It should be noted that the 8.875” of loadable sleeve length is roughly half that of the Ohio Bar (16.4”) and slightly less than the original non-rackable C-70 Bar (12”). There is no center knurl, and the Rogue logo is included in the center of the shaft as part of the Cerakote finish.

A History Tied to the CrossFit Games
2

A History Tied to the CrossFit Games

The “S” in the bar’s name literally stands for “Snatch,” and refers to its origins at the 2014 CrossFit Games, when narrow competition lanes in the snatch event required a new type of short bar design. The standard width between sleeves gave the feel of a normal barbell, but the shorter sleeves allowed for athletes to work in much closer proximity to each other while also maximizing the number of athletes per heat. The C-70S would ultimately be used at each subsequent CrossFit Games for six years running.

Space-Saving Efficiency
3

Space-Saving Efficiency

The advantages of a short bar go well beyond competition lanes. In large gyms, the design of the C-70S allows more athletes to train simultaneously, and in a cramped garage gym, the shorter shaft (72” vs the 86.75” of a full-length Ohio Bar) enables full Olympic lifting movements—including proper hand placement on the snatch grip—with more room to spare and easier storage between workouts.

F16-R Durability Rating
4

F16-R Durability Rating

Like the full-length Ohio Bar, the C-70S is manufactured in the USA and equipped with dual knurl marks, quality composite bushings, and a 28.5mm, 190,000 PSI tensile strength steel shaft. Each shaft is treated with our exclusive Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) process for superior fatigue resistance. With its short sleeves, there is also significantly less stress put on the shaft on each drop. As a result, the C-70s scores a rating of F16-R in F-Scale durability testing, the highest mark of any barbell we’ve tested.

Cerakote Shaft Finish
5

Cerakote Shaft Finish

All of our Rogue C-70S Bars feature a Black Cerakote shaft finish. Widely used by firearm manufacturers for its durability in thin applications, this ceramic-based coating can offer superior abrasion, wear, and corrosion resistance over time—up to 100x that of traditional black zinc.

F SCALE™

The F Scale™ is a durability scale for barbells based on functional testing at stresses similar to what barbells experience when being dropped from overhead. Bars that have been treated with Rogue Work Hardening (RWH™) are designated by having an R in their F Rating™. For more information on F Scale™ click here.

OXIDATION RATE

The resistance of a barbell to oxidation depends on the type of steel and the coating. Barbells at the lower end of the spectrum will require more care and maintenance to preserve their appearance than barbells at the upper end of the spectrum.

*Warranty against bending does not cover any bar which has been damaged due to negligent or faulty use, alteration, maintenance, storage or handling by the user. Negligent or faulty use includes abusive dropping of the bar (i.e., dropping the bar on a box, bench, spotter arms or pins in a power rack, excessive dropping with insufficient or damaged bumpers, or excessive dropping with iron plates, and similar usage). Any specific issues regarding a Rogue product with which a customer is not satisfied will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We have found that most problems with bars we replace are related to abusive use rather than manufacturing or materials issues.

Superfast shipping. Nice bar to hold.
Bought this bar with a set of bumpers - it was my first time ordering from Rogue Australia. I was very impressed with the shipping speed! It came within a week! The bar is nice to hold, the knurling and cerakote finish is amazing and adds to the comfort. Downside though is a scratched my hand lifting the end - similar to another review here there was a chip on the sleeve so the finish wasn't perfect and there's a sharp end to it - almost like a needle. I understand that chips/dings are inevitable with use but its unfortunate to find on a brand new bar. I'll either need to file it down or cover in duct tape.

Rogue Fitness - Rogue C-70S Bar
Bought this bar a couple months ago. The shorter bar is perfect for my smaller home gym. I can still load up plenty of weight on the shorter sleeves. High quality. Don't hesitate getting this for your home gym! (Picked up some more 10 pound plates at the same time!)

Perfect bar for tight spaces.
Got this to go with my half rack in my tiny apartment, perfect. The cerakote finish is stunning and knurling is grippy. However was disappointed that it also came with a chip on the sleeve. Not good considering it is not cheap, and the fact that I travelled 8 hours and paid additional baggage allowance just to get this.

Best bar I’ve hold
This is the best bar functionally for the price compared to other bars I have from less expensive to more expensive. Knurling is aggressive just the right amount and very grippy. Spin is not the smoothest, it makes some noise but not a big problem and spin very well. The length of sleeves are just right for what I’m going to use it for. Very well packaged and nice finish, except there is some scratches in the middle of the shaft when I just took it out. I’m a little disappointed since it’s brand new. 4 stars just for that. Otherwise it is a 9.5/10 bar for me

Short in space..perfect short bar
So far, I’m digging this bar. My gym is a 2 car garage so I’m trying to maximize the space as much as possible. Brownie points that it’s rackable which makes it even more versatile. As with all rogue products, quality is above and beyond! Only down fall is that I wished they made a rackable version of a 28mm bar!!! ROGUE IF YOURE READING THIS, PLEASE MAKE A 28mm JUST LIKE C70s.

Perfect size, but rusting
This is a great bar and the exact size I need. After 10 months of ownership, I see visible rust on both ends of the bar, unfortunately. I am in contact with customer support now and will update my review based on the outcome of events.

Thank you for posting your feedback and concerns. Our team is working with you now. We recommend wiping down the bar with 3-in-One Oil and brushing it into the knurl with a nylon bristle brush. The steel will soak the oil in and the bar will stay healthy.
