MobilityWOD Supernova – 80mm

They say you can never have too much of a good thing, but sometimes a little less is all you need. Case in point, the miniature version of the Mobility WOD Supernova—with a reduced, 80mm diameter for easier targeting of some hard to reach trigger points.

Backed by the same science as the standard-size MobilityWOD Supernova, this groundbreaking massage ball is designed to go where your basic lacrosse balls can’t—creating higher global shear pressures for an intense, effective, and efficient brand of deep tissue therapy.

Use it after a workout, before bed, or during a lunch break to treat or prevent knots and soreness. The Supernova goes anywhere, works everywhere, and helps just about anybody recover faster to get back in the gym sooner. Since the standard Supernova has the motto: “More shear, more better, more awesome,” we’ll just tack on, “more smaller” for this one and you’ll get the gist.

  • Diameter: 80mm (3.15 inches)
  • Scientifically developed grooves for higher global shear pressures

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Essential I had seen the supernova and had considered ordering one for a while but hesitated due to another reviewers negative experience with it's durability. After tweaking my neck surfing I decided I needed to give it a try in spite of my reservations. Well, let me now say that this item is a must have. I have several similar items and this one is by far the most effective, I've used it on my neck, hip, hand, quads and would not be without it. As for durability, I used it every single day for four months and many times over the last couple of months and it still looks brand new. For me the supernova is essential for my recovery routine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it I use the 120mm version daily and love it, I've noticed a huge change in my back muscles since using it. I ordered this 80mm version last week and after a few uses, I think this one will replace the 120mm as my favorite mobility tool. Foam rollers pale in comparison to the Supernovas, but a word of caution to beginners...start with the 120mm, it'll take some time to get used to, jumping in to the 80mm will most likely be too much to start with (in my opinion). Either way, both sizes of the Supernova are great and I highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Skeptical at First, Sold Now I had my doubts about the ball but decided to give it a shot. When I first received it I used it a few times for my back and liked it. It had a good, solid feel to it with an even distribution of pressure (better than a lacrosse ball). Then I tried it on my legs. That's when I fell in love. It was like foam rolling only so much better. I could target points with more accuracy with just the right pressure. I ended up purchasing the 120mm ball and loving it too. I like the larger size but if I had to choose between both, I'd go with the 80mm ball. I'd definitely recommend both.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from On-Point Product The strength is in its size. It very effective at most things except for faced-down gut smashing (and you wouldn't expect it to excel there anyway). I can get a lot farther with this than the large Supernova. Still best to have a variety to discover each tool's strengths and drawbacks. Only downside is I wish it were a shade grippier. Maybe I'm a lightweight. Thank you Kelly, developers and Rogue.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Love the ball, not the warranty I use this 4-5 times a week and it has drastically improved my hip mobility. Sadly it is built to a price, to barely survive the 12 month warranty. 15 months after receiving it the grey square falls out since the blue exterior has cracked and is coming apart. Expect to buy it every 15 months if you plan to use it regularly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PERFECT for lower back, hip, and scap pain Definitely my new favorite mobility tool within the first two minutes of using it. Anyone who experiences lower back or hip/glute pain must get this! My UL is always tight and I frequently have posterior hip/glute pain from old hip pointer injuries. These spots are very tough to reach with a foam roller, and a lacrosse ball just sort of pokes at it - this thing is the perfect size to get in those areas. More importantly, it's hard and much heavier than a lacrosse ball so it really can smash on the damaged tissue. It also works great for shoulders, traps, and scapula release. Basically anything you would use a lacrosse ball for, this thing can do but is much more effective due to its slightly larger size and weight. With that said, if you don't tissue mash regularly, definitely ween yourself onto this thing! It has no give whatsoever, so if you're not used to myofascial release start with something softer. Get yourself a softer practice lacrosse ball then work your way up. I will definitely give the 105mm one a try too, to fill the gap between this and my 7" orb!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The shear is real! Many people would disagree with me, but this is better than the big supernova. It really hits those knots nicely (I mean a knot would be about this size). It's also better constructed. Very solid. I can see the glue on the gray piping that oozed out on the bigger one. No complaints for the smaller! (Though they both get the job done.) Big things really do come in small packages

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice device, who wrote the product description? I'd say I love this little thing. Perfect for its intended use and you can easily take it with you for extreme mobility multitasking. I was skeptical at first, but my Queen got it for me for Christmas and it is way better than a LAX ball. Grippier and a little larger, so it doesn't feel like your just poking knots, you're actually smashing them. Now I want all the Mobility WOD tools. On a side note, who wrote the product description? It's so cheesy, it sounds like some blowhard salesman trying to sell you a Kirby or something. Let the product do the talking, it actually works very well.
