Donnie Thompson Formal Bowtie

Developed by powerlifting legend Donnie Thompson and Spud Inc., the Formal Bowtie is a simple but effective accessory for helping athletes train and maintain superior posture. In a time when the average person spends much of their day working at a computer, looking at a cell phone, or stuck driving in traffic, the problem of slouching—and the shoulder pain that comes with it—is all too common. The Bowtie attacks this issue by applying firm compression to the pectoral tendons and reducing strain on the muscles behind the shoulders. When worn during warm-ups or as you move through your squats, bench, deadlifts, etc., the Formal Bowtie not only helps limit some of these aches and pains, but also trains more consistent form. Along the way, your muscle memory is rewired, as the brain encourages better posture in your day-to-day life.

The Thompson Formal Bowtie is designed specifically for serious athletes, and is made from a heavier, stiffer webbing material than the Casual Bowtie (which can be worn throughout the day over longer periods). Available in a wide range of sizes, the Formal Bowtie can have a noticeable effect on reducing common shoulder pain and pec tightness, while also reducing the risk of more serious injuries down the road.

You can also track your package each step of the way using the Rogue Shipping Tracker.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well - But sizing chart leaves you guessing This definitely performs as advertised, however, the sizing chart by weight doesn't take into account height. I wish chest size, shoulder size, or some other measuring method was available. It left me guessing and I ordered too small, so I'm out a bit of $ to get the correct size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Helps with Posture I hurt my shoulder a few months ago and my PT deduced that my posture was most likely the culprit. I have tried to correct it mentally while working at the computer, but I would constantly find myself reverting back to that terrible hunchbacked posture over time. In the short span that I've owned this product, I can already see a dramatic improvement in my posture. The Bowtie also has the added benefit of making you more aware of your posture when you're not wearing it, creating a sort of shoulder positioning positive feedback loop. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This product is AMAZING to help people improve their posture and transfers tremendously for lifters looking to correct internal rotation of shoulders and improve thoracic mobility for improved lifting positions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Advice for sizing Really enjoying the formal bow tie and reaping positive benefits. i got the XL as a 220 lb male with a 44 or 46 size suit jacket. The fit is great - good compression with the shoulders tugged back. Good for a 30+ minute dog walk or sitting at my desk for about that much time. So a good mix of tight enough but also not so uncomfortable that I can't keep it on longer

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product In my experience, this has really helped me focus on proper form on the bench and incline. With that comes the benefit of better muscle isolation and an reduced potential for injury. I’ve also noticed that as an older athlete this has helped reduce the post workout ache I can get in my shoulders the day after. small investment for a quality performance product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Posture is improving! I like how it pulls my shoulders to the correct position. It does cause tingling in my arms and slight cramping in my biceps. Seems like these are due to muscles adjusting to improved posture. Showed mine to my chiropractor and he loved it! Said he would recommend it to his patients who spend a lot of time at the computer. Overall, it’s a great product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for improving posture, and shoulder rehab ex It’s one size too big, but I use it with my sweatshirt on, and it’s pretty snug. I ordered it bigger figuring I will grow into it. Surprisingly, I am able to get good results with it now in the meantime too. Great product, as are the rest that Donnie has produced

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 10 years agoi was 380 lb with a crooked back Now I am an avid gym goer with my nutrition down. Everything fits better.. my lifts got better (so i thought) and life was good. The one sticking point for me was the undersized muscles in my back. Long story short... with my self inflicted "hunch" which turned to scoliosis; to go with my tight hips and weak lower back, I was a prime candidate for major problems in the future if I continued this lifestyle. Then came this magic "Bowtie"... all i can say is its weird at first..then you get used to it.. then you find yourself correcting how you stand without even wearing it. After the first day of use which was an off day from the gym, my abs (core) were sore, my back felt like I was doing rows all day and my chest felt stretched. 2 months later and my back although is still undersized for how big I am... actually looks defined and I do infact have those rhomboid muscles... and I surprisingly have a lower trap area! lol... I'm not posting pics(i have them upon request but i still have loose skin im embarrassed about)... but trust me... my core is more engaged in every lift.. that lower a$$ part and higher hammy part you cant really feel when you squat? Put this bowtie on to warm up and just try to squat the bar
