Donnie Thompson Casual Bowtie

Developed by powerlifting legend Donnie Thompson and Spud Inc., the Casual Bowtie is a simple accessory for everyday life, helping to counteract the slouched posture that often develops when working at a computer, driving, or using a cell phone. Made from a softer material than the Thompson Formal Bowtie, this design is optimized for wearing over long periods of time as you go about your day. The webbing harness is light and comfortable and doesn’t encumber movement. It works by subtly encouraging sustained upright posture, easing tension on the muscles behind the shoulders and also applying light compression to the bicep tendons.

By wearing the Casual Bowtie on a regular basis, the user can create a sense of muscle memory, as the brain will start instructing better posture long after the bowtie is removed. This can have a huge impact on reducing the problems of shoulder pain and tight pecs, and limiting the risk of more serious injuries down the road.

The Donnie Thompson Casual Bowtie is available in a range of sizes (see chart below). You can also track your package each step of the way using the Rogue Shipping Tracker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Earns it's place in the rehab world The bowtie is the real deal! I love a good field test and the bowtie has proved itself by optimizing scapular and shoulder positioning. The instant posture correction is awesome but I've found that the bowtie's greatest function is the ability to maintain proper shoulder position during a training session. It keeps my patients from impinging in their shoulders and speeds recovery time by getting rid of faulty mechanics. It makes the "rounded shoulder" posture a thing of the past. Thanks. Great product. I recommend the bowtie to everyone only because I've seen it work.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Need bigger size -Sizing chart not accurate for me I am a 175lb male and ordered a size medium per the sizing chart. I put on the bowtie and could immediately tell how this thing will be beneficial. It feels great for the first few minutes, nice and snug. Anything longer than 5 minutes it starts to feel way too tight and both of my arms start tingling. I have tried to adjust it and wear it differently but still get the same results in my arms falling asleep. I will need to try size L, hoping it will fit better and not too big

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sizing I bought this and just tried it on, based on the weight I should have been a M, but it was way too large and loose around the armpits. I think the sizing might fit a male better, because they tend to have broader shoulders. (My husband tried it on, and the medium fit him). The quality seems great and sturdy, I just don't know if they accounted for the women body.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Bad sizing options I looked at the sizing chart and saw it was by weight, that was my first concern, weight is a terrible way to estimate sizing, medium was out of stock so I waited a few weeks until it was in stock. I ordered a medium figuring my weight was in that range and I usually wear a medium, it was too big, didn’t even put pressure on anything when I tried it on, it was loose. I exchanged it for a small, that was so small I couldn’t even get it on properly even with help, and was dangerously too tight. Great idea on the product, needs better fitting options.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sizing could be done differently Got the casual bowtie the other day, and I've been wearing it a bit everyday since then. I'd hoped to wear it long-term over the course of the day as some have mentioned, but I find it too snug and restrictive when doing things that require use of the arms in front of the body...washing dishes, typing, etc. I think driving in it would also be somewhat uncomfortable, which is a shame. These sorts of actions cause it to cut into the front and armpit area pretty significantly. The fabric underneath the arm, in the armpit area is a bit wide, but it could be that I just didn't get the right size. I got the size small, which according to weight is the correct size. I am 5'6", 130#. Shoulders are 15" across the back. It is difficult to imagine anyone much broader than me being comfortable in this size. That being said, I do notice that it corrects posture, and my shoulders feel great after a session of wearing it. I am curious to try wearing it during a dead lift session to see how it does with maintaining shoulder position. Overall, I like it, I just wish the sizing was done using shoulder measurements or something less ambiguous than weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great, picking size is the hard part. My coach has been using his bowtie for a few months and loves it so I ordered one and am very happy with it. I use it for my hour drive to and from work and it works great for posture while driving. Luckily I was able to try the XL bowtie on that my coach had because according to the sizing chart I am a Large and that would have been way too tight. I'm 6'2", 215 lbs with a 46" chest measurement under the arm pits and the XL fits perfect, secure and tight enough to do the job but not crazy tight. I think it's easy to put on, adjust and take off by myself but I am pretty flexible compared to most people. I am happy with my purchase but I would definitely not rely on the sizing chart.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome product! I bought this several weeks ago and it has helped my posture dramatically. I started wearing it for lengthy periods but did notice that my underarms felt a little sore. So I started just doing an hour of two a day and it doesn't bother me at all. My posture is so much better without even have to think to stand up straight. It is also helping my back pain. My back muscles are not in a constant full stretch with my shoulders rolled forward. Highly recommend this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it needs to do for me I work out at home by myself. When I work my shoulders or do bicep curls, my shoulders roll forward. This works great in helping to prevent that. I'm 5'9" 235lbs and bought the XL size. The straps are a bit stiff out of the box and dig into the underarm a little, but seems to be softening the more I use it.
